Wales visited London City to commemorate the official re-launch of
the airport following a runway extension, and by 1993 over 245,000
passengers were using the airport. The following year passenger numbers
rose to almost half a million. In 1997 a new business lounge was opened
and the departure lounge redesigned and refurbished adding new retail
outlets and combining international and domestic lounges. In 1999
