Canadian Affair has announced it is to commence a direct service between Newcastle Airport and Toronto next year.
The weekly service will take off for the first time on May 21st, with fares for adults available from £99 one way including taxes, surcharges and meals. Children aged 12 or under will be eligible for discount tickets.
Geordie holidaymakers who want to stay closer to home may instead wish to take advantage of Air Southwest's new services from Newcastle Airport to Devon and Cornwall.
The flights to Newquay and Plymouth will run seven days a week from April 28th 2008 and fares will be available from £35 one way.
Chris Sanders, Newcastle Airport's head of aviation development, said the new routes would provide a wealth of holiday opportunities for local people.
"The south-west of England has so much to offer people in the north-east and today's announcement is a real boost to our services," said Mr Sanders.
