New visitor centre at Stansted

Thu, 07 Feb, 2008

London Stansted Airport has been granted planning permission for a new visitors centre, BAA reports.

Uttlesford District Council has approved the bid for the centre which will hold up to 40 visitors, parking for up to 20 vehicles and a coach bay.

The lecture theatre and views across the airfield will act as an education resource for schools and other groups, BAA has claimed.

BAA's community manager Valda Edmunds said the news was "fantastic".

"What could be better to help to improve knowledge and understanding of Stansted Airport and aviation in general," she added.

This summer, Aegean airways is to begin flying from Athens to London Stansted Airport as part of its new flight schedule expansion.

From May 15th there will be a twice-daily service between the two destinations, using a brand new 195-seater Airbus 321.

The airline commented that London Stansted Airport was an easy choice of destination because it means that Aegean now covers six of the seven largest destinations abroad from Athens.
