Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is to operate flights from Leeds-Bradford Airport to Islamabad from July 2nd, it has been announced.
The flight will operate every Wednesday and Saturday and will provide travel opportunities to tourists and relatives who either live in Pakistan or Britain.
Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at Leeds-Bradford Airport, said the move confirms the airport as Yorkshire's "premier international gateway".
"We are extremely pleased to have secured the services of PIA to deliver this important flagship service," he stated.
"A direct flight to Islamabad, Pakistan by PIA, one the leading international airlines is a major achievement for the airport and we are proud of our success."
Another airline that has increased its flights from Leeds-Bradford Airport is Goldtrail Holidays, which is now offering five services a week to Bodrum, Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey.
