Humberside Airport airline defies credit crunch

An airline based at Humberside Airport has announced that it is doing well despite the credit crunch and is introducing new planes and new services.
Eastern Airways carries out mainly private bookings and chartered services and currently employs around 200 people.
Spokesperson Darren Roberts, said: "It's an example of a business that is performing well in the current climate."
He added that the carrier will bring in two 50-seater Saab 2000 aircraft to use on a new route between Aberdeen Airport and Oslo.
Eastern Airways recently won the ERA gold award for airline of the year in 2006-07, as well as being silver award-winner for two consecutive years in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
Around 700,000 passengers a year are carried on its scheduled route network and it was established in December 1997.
Meanwhile, some 446,000 passengers passed through Humberside Airport, a small regional hub which is situated ten miles from Grimsby, up to July 2008.
