New airport parking expansion at Bristol

Thu, 22 Jan, 2009

Airport parking facilities are set to be expanded at Bristol International Airport.

The £150 million redevelopment, which will reportedly create 4,000 jobs, includes a new multi-story car park to be located where the existing airport parking area is.

On top of this new airport parking facility would be a public transport interchange point.

New international destinations could be reached from the expanded terminal, including Cape Town, Singapore and Hong Kong.

According to the plans, passenger numbers could increase to ten million annually in less than ten years.

Chief executive Robert Sinclair said that the environment was being taken into account and that renewable energy sources are intended to be used.

A public consultation on the plans is now taking place.

Bristol International Airport offers an online facility for booking airport parking in advance.

In December 2008, the airport recorded 39,131 passengers on charter flights, 233,025 on scheduled international ones and 79,712 for scheduled domestic ones.
