Robin Hood Airport readies itself for busy bank holiday
Tue, 25 Aug, 2009
Employees at Robin Hood Airport are bracing themselves for one of the busiest weekends of the year.
The South Yorkshire airport is expecting large numbers of people to fly over the August bank holiday after another rainy British summer.
Robin Hood Airport director Mike Morton said that he was expecting passenger numbers to "swell" over the course of the weekend.
"Whilst the recession and the poor weather are doing their best to dampen spirits, it appears that the chance to jet off somewhere warm or get away for an exciting city break is still important to the region's passengers," he commented.
Holidaymakers can use the Doncaster Sheffield Airport to fly to the popular holiday destinations of Corfu, Malaga, Palma, Ibiza and Malaga, while city breaks in Barcelona, Belfast and Gdansk are all in easy reach.
Airport parking is available at the airport just yards from the terminal building.
Robin Hood handled approximately 950,000 passengers over the course of 2008.
