John Lennon Airport coffee up for national award
Fri, 12 Mar, 2010
A Liverpool John Lennon Airport barista is through to the final of a prestigious national award.
Marta Twardygrosz of Caffe Ritazza will take part in the Barista Championships in London on March 30th.
She will be up against seven other finalists who will each produce four cappuccinos and four espressos. The contestants will be judged on their technical ability and the taste, consistency and presentation of their coffees.
The 27-year-old said it was an "honour" to represent the airport at the competition, and added: "I just hope I can go on and win."
Marta's success is further welcome news for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which recently became one of Britain's top ten busiest airports for the first time in its history, according to aviation intelligence agency anna.aero.
The airport is also set to undergo a £12 million development programme, to be completed by autumn 2010, which will see its departure lounge expanded to make room for a number of new retail outlets.
