Fri, 09 Apr, 2010
A new route is to be opened this summer between Edinburgh Airport and Barcelona.
Spanish low-fare airline Vueling has announced that it is to run flights from the Scottish hub to Spain's second city from June 24th, complementing its current offering that includes services to La Coruna, Seville and Bilbao from Heathrow.
Alex Cruz, chief executive of Vueling, claimed to be "delighted" to announce the addition to his company's route network.
"Barcelona and Edinburgh have strong links and we are confident our flights will be appreciated by business people and leisure travellers alike," he remarked.
The flights will run each week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday until September 12th. Planes will depart Barcelona at 11:30 local time and arrive in Edinburgh at 13:15, while return journeys will see the aircraft leave Scotland at 13:50 and land in Spain at 17:25.
Edinburgh announced that it was to begin offering flights to Barcelona again last month, with the launch of a new service by Spanair.
