Heathrow Airport hosts pre-emptive carnival events

London's Heathrow Airport is set to host this year's Notting Hill Carnival premiere at its Terminal 5 building.
Visitors to the airport can expect to see a specially made exhibition by artist Carl Gabriel, which will be open until the end of August.
There will be a host of performers and steel bands on show at Terminal 5, which expects a share of the predicted 840,000 passengers travelling through the airport over the upcoming bank holiday weekend.
Spokesman for airport owners BAA Malcolm Robertson expressed his hopes that passengers would experience a "lively and colourful" welcome.
He said: "We want to provide passengers with an immediate sense that they have landed in London, and bringing the Notting Hill Carnival to international arrivals is one way of doing that."
The announcement comes after last week saw the airport launch British Food Week, which showed some of the nation's favourite foods stocked at its restaurants and bars.
