Manchester Airport launches ad campaign

Manchester Airport has rolled out an advertising campaign designed to attract people to the long-haul services it offers.
The Manchester Evening News reports that the 'So far, yet so near' campaign pokes fun at the airport's London rivals, in an effort to reclaim long-haul travellers from within its catchment areas.
Managing director for Manchester Airport Andrew Harrison expressed his hope that the campaign will remind travellers of the range of long haul services offered by companies flying from Manchester.
"With this campaign we want to win back the one million or so passengers we're losing from our catchment area and remind them about the range of routes we offer," he said.
His comments follow news from earlier in the month, in which a report from the Manchester Evening News indicated that over two million passengers passed through the airport's gates during August.
It now boasts a range of long-haul destinations to every major city in the world, but airport chiefs claim that many people remain unaware of its offerings.
