Glasgow Airport supermarket gives local school donation
Thu, 07 Oct, 2010
A new supermarket at Glasgow Airport has marked its official opening by donating money to a local school.
The Tesco Express store, situated in Glasgow Airport's arrivals area, provided a cheque for £500 to Glencoats Primary School.
Store manager Nikki Lamarine and staff presented pupils from the school with the cheque, which was matched by an identical donation from Patton Construction, the builder of the new store.
Managing director of Glasgow Airport Amanda McMillan welcomed the new opening and expressed her pride at the company's decision to situate its first airport store in Glasgow.
"It has transformed a large and prominent space in the arrivals area [and] improved the overall choice available to our passengers and staff in the terminal," she said.
Last month, Glasgow Airport reported a massive influx of almost 500 applications for the 27 positions created by the opening of the new store, which is more than 17 applications per vacancy.
