Glasgow Airport receives new Tenerife service

Tue, 19 Oct, 2010

Glasgow Airport is to receive a new service offering non-stop flights between Scotland and Tenerife from low-cost airline Jet2.com.

As of April 4th 2011, passengers will be able to take the direct service to the island from Glasgow Airport, which is to be operated twice a week.

Travel industry director at the Tenerife Tourism Corporation Pia Louw welcomed the announcement and claimed it served to recognise the island's "ever-growing" popularity in the UK.

"These new flights will introduce even more British holidaymakers to our beautiful island. The airline's impressively low fares will make it possible for Brits to visit Tenerife very cheaply," she said.

Flights are scheduled to depart the airport at 14:20 GMT and arrive in Tenerife at 18:50 GMT on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Prices are set to start from £56.99 one-way and are available for prospective passengers to book immediately.

Last month, Glasgow Airport's new Tesco Express supermarket marked its official opening with a donation of £500 to a local school.
