Glasgow Airport receives award

Glasgow Airport has received a prestigious national award at a ceremony held in London.

The Scottish hub was awarded the title of Best Airport with more than six million passengers, as part of the annual Airport Operators Association Awards.

Managing director of Glasgow Airport Amanda McMillan expressed her delight at the award, stating that the recognition it signifies is a "great honour".

"We have faced some difficult operational challenges this year such as the prolonged cold snap and volcanic ash disruption, but the response from our people was exceptional," she said.

Ms McMillan went on to credit Glasgow Airport's focus on supporting its airlines and the teamwork of its staff as helping towards the award.

Earlier in the year, the Scottish facility welcomed the UK's first ever airport-based Tesco Express store and reported that it had been flooded by nearly 500 applications for the 27 jobs provided by the new shop.
