Fri, 29 Oct, 2010

Newcastle Airport has received an acclaimed award as part of the annual Airport Operators Association Conference at London's Hilton Metropole.

The facility was given the prize for the UK's best airport by the British Air Transport Association, whose members include leading airlines and tour operators from around the world.

Chief executive of Newcastle Airport Dave Laws welcomed the award, stating that 2010 has been an "exceptional year" for the hub. He claimed to be "overwhelmed" by the prestigious prize.

"The airport's continued success makes such an important contribution to the regional economy. The support we've received throughout from our airline partners has been phenomenal," he said.

Mr Laws went on to state that Newcastle Airport aims to further improve the experience of its customers throughout 2011.

This comes after the facility was recognised for its efforts in car park safety by being presented with an award by Chief Constable of Northumbria Police Sue Sim.
