Heathrow Airport has Christmas lights turned on by McFly
Fri, 19 Nov, 2010
Pop band McFly performed an exclusive gig for passengers travelling through London's Heathrow Airport after turning on the facility's Christmas lights.
DFNI Online reports that the group donned pilot uniforms before activating the festive decorations in Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5.
Communications director for airport owners BAA Malcom Robertson expressed his delight at the turnout for the event and claimed that Heathrow Airport's busy schedule does not stop the festive cheer.
A McFly member said of the performance: "We've performed in some weird and wonderful locations before, but Heathrow was really special. We were able to meet fans from all over the world."
Travellers passing through the facility's gates were treated to songs from the band's new album Above the Noise.
This comes after the construction industry's Construction Rocks 2010 event was attended by Heathrow staff members who got together to form their own group, The BAAnd and raised over £5,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.
