Manchester Airport new business lounge welcomes first guests

Fri, 10 Dec, 2010

Manchester Airport's new business lounge has opened its doors for the first time.

United Arab Emirates-based carrier Etihad Airways recently unveiled the facility, located in the hub's Terminal 1 building.

A number of prestigious visitors were among the first to be welcomed to the new lounge, following an opening ceremony featuring key figures from Manchester City Football Club, including Roberto Mancini, Garry Cook and Mike Summerbee.

Chief commercial officer for Etihad Airways Peter Baumgartner claimed the venue is a "testament" to his company's ongoing commitment to the north-west of England.

"We are very proud to be able to offer Etihad Pearl Business Class guests in Manchester this amazing lounge," he said.

Some of the key features of the lounge include five-star dining facilities, a modern business centre and "luxurious" bathrooms and showers for business customers to use prior to their departure.

Earlier in the month, it was revealed that Heathrow Airport will also receive a new lounge in its Terminal 4 building, courtesy of Qatar Airways.
