Newcastle Airport issues Christmas travel warning
Mon, 20 Dec, 2010
Newcastle Airport has issued a warning to holidaymakers travelling over the festive period.
In a recent article for the Sun, columnist Rob Pattinson spoke to security staff at the facility and discovered what areas fliers should be careful in.
He revealed that bosses at Newcastle have issued a warning about the contents of presents this year.
They stated that families should beware carrying presents if they are unaware of the contents.
Similarly, airport chiefs warned of everyday items which are banned on planes, including knives, bottle openers, crackers and party poppers.
Mr Pattinson spoke to security training officer Craig Hurst who urged families to check the contents of their presents.
"The last thing we want is to have go through people’s presents at the terminal, but safety has to come first," he said.
This comes after airport chiefs commended the work of staff at Newcastle Airport for managing to keep the facility open despite the recent harsh weather.
