Glasgow Airport MD welcomes return to growth
Tue, 15 Feb, 2011
Glasgow Airport's managing director has welcomed new figures that show the facility has returned to growth.
Following a "hugely challenging" period for the hub, passenger numbers rose by eight per cent when compared with January 2010.
International traffic saw similar gains, with an increase of 6.4 per cent.
Managing director for Glasgow Airport Amanda McMillan welcomed the figures as "encouraging" - claiming that the progress they demonstrate is set to put the facility "back on track" for growth in 2011.
"We are particularly pleased with the boost in international traffic and we expect this trend to continue throughout the year as we welcome Jet2.com to Glasgow Airport," she said.
Last month, Glasgow Prestwick Airport greeted Ryanair's 20 millionth customer to pass through its gates.
Patricia McPhillimy was greeted by representatives from the airline, in addition to Scottish transport minister Keith Brown - who presented her with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers.
